I want you to take a moment and think of all the good things I experienced in the 1980’s. Now take those things, and place them in a blender, the thing that would come from all that “goodness” would be “Kung Fury”. Sometimes something comes along and it is just too good to be true, while this is not a true story, it is for sure so damn fun. Kung Fury (David Sandberg) was just a cop, but all that changed when was struck by lighting (and bitten by a cobra), which turned him into the chosen one, or as you will come to know him, Kung Fury. When the cops can’t get their man, they call Fury, and the man who they can’t get this time is Hitler (Jorma Taccone), who has come from back in time, to kill the chosen one. Now while all this sounds like it would be unwatchable, it is instead hard to take your eyes away from the joy that is this movie.
Writer/director David Sandberg seems to hit all the right notes, and creates the perfect symphony that bleeds 80’s cheese in all the wonderful ways. Anyone who is the fan of the over the top action movies from that era will have their heart strings pulled, as it makes you feel like you are watching your favorite action movie on VHS. So, you had a hard day and want something to cheer you up? Or maybe you just want to give your eyes and mind pure pleasure? Then “Kung Fury” is for you, so sit back, turn up the volume, and watch the film below and let the mayhem wash over you.
