The Secret Life of Pets 2

Three years ago one of the biggest secrets was let out of the bag. It seems that when we leave our pets at home for the day, that they get together and have this whole little world away from us, almost like if they were toys in Andy’s room. I for one always suspected it, and after watching The Secret Life of Pets all it did was reinforce those beliefs. Now that the world is seen differently by so many people, you have to ask what other secrets they plan to unveil, as chapter 2 in these lives of our pets is set to announce itself.

Max (Patton Oswalt) and Duke (Eric Stonestreet) are living it up with their owner, but Max has found something new to dislike. It is kids, but soon his owner meets someone and has one of her own, in which Max discovers it is easy to dislike kids, but only if they are not yours. Max has taken quite a shine to the new entry into the family and soon they all take a trip to the wide open world and visit a farm. Once there Max has to put away his fearful ways and he meets Rooster (Harrison Ford) who begins Max’s road to greatness. Meanwhile Snowball (Kevin Hart) has taken on a super hero form and meets a dog named Daisy (Tiffany Haddish) who needs his help rescuing a tiger from an evil circus. Soon an adventure is born in which Max soon joins and all the animals find out together they can accomplish anything.

I am not going to lie, when it comes to animation it is pretty hard to mess up something that was so good the first time around. If you look at animated films, while they may not always be on the same level, the sequels always are just as entertaining and I mean, isn’t that what we really want? The Secret Life of Pets 2 doesn’t have the focus of the first film, but what it does have is more in the laugh department, as if they paid attention to what worked the first time around and didn’t want to ruin a good thing. For me it’s always good sign if an animated film is good if it manages to entertain both the intended audience and the ones who brought them. The Secret Life of Pets 2 passes that test and is a fun time to be had by all in your party. I for one look forward to more insight of our pets being revealed when they are on their own. I always knew our pets lives were interesting and with this film series I guess you can say the secret is out.
